We spent the Saturday in New Bern, NC mostly because it's easily in our top 5 places in North Carolina but also because we heard that their farmer's market is pretty amazing. Last week we visited a local farm in La Grange NC and wanted to check out their booth at the market as well.
I love any excuse to visit this sweet town wrought with history but to be honest, I wasn't expecting much from their farmer's market. We were going to put our deposit down on a Non- GMO organic turkey from Nature's Touch Farm and that was pretty much it. I did not expect to spend over an hour sweating like a pig (with 3 kid and a husband that has too many trial cases on his mind to function properly) and love it!
We saw some amazing crafts from local vendors- hand made doll clothes, stuffed animals, clothes, we even met a sheep farmer that felts her wool into the most amazing creations. And the food! The produce was abundant and beautiful and inexpensive. We enjoyed live music, food trucks and a wonderful crowd.
Lilly and Grace enjoyed being able to wear their new school uniforms and taking Molly and Emily out for the day. August enjoyed being able to eat a hotdog while lounging in a tree and Greg enjoyed not having to spend much money and getting away from the office.
I enjoyed the coffee from Bear Town Java and the bag of wild blueberries that I snagged at Nature's Touch Farm and being able to photograph my favorite people on the grounds of a 300 year old church whose cemetery, outdoor chapel and playground are all intertwined :)
